www.streetanthem.com

And here it is. For those of you who know me well, you know the history behind Street Anthem. It’s the first blog I started back when I was 15 with my friend David So. We opened up shop back in 2007. This is the very outlet that got me so interested in promo, marketing, and music; it’s the reason why I know so many people in my network to this day. We were recently forced to close the blog down late last year for many reasons, but recently got the OK to put it back online. I have been working on the “resurrection” for the past three months. From the blog theme to the stuff behind-the-scenes, I’ve spent some nights without any sleep working on it and I can say it has honestly paid off. It’s one of the best designs I’ve done to date. I went through about 10 different designs, 20 headers, 6 backgrounds, 4 logos, and much more. Thanks to hustleGRL for the input she gave in helping with the final design process (I love her!). My apologies also go out to the people I have put on hold because of this project, hopefully you understand.

It feels great to be blogging again on SA. I think this calls for a celebration tomorrow night. The 3rd year anniversary is coming up soon too. I love life.

Fresh from Vancouv, here’s Nicki Minaj’s first single titled Massive Attack. It features Sean Garrett, who co-produced the track with Alex Da Kid. The track was just premiered on HOT97 by Funkmaster Flex. Here’s the final tagless version. The video, which is directed by Hype Williams, is set to debut this week.

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted the charts so I’m a bit out of the loop. This week, Lady Antebellum climbed back to the top to regain the throne in the number one spot. Gospel singer Marvin Sapp took spot number two with a very nice 80K for his first week. Ludacris opened last week with 137K, and sold close to 58K for his second week sales. In my opinion the album could’ve done a lot better if the material on the album was that “old Luda” like we all had hoped for. The Edge took spot four and Lady Gaga spot number five. Hit the jump to view the rest of the chart. As always a big thanks to HITS Daily Double for the scan info.

Just one day after his birthday, March 22nd marks the day that Mr. Diggy Simmons signed the papers to become a member of the Atlantic Records family. With only one mixtape out and numerous remixes, the humble young gent was finally recognized by major media outlets after he dropped his own remix to Drake’s latest track ‘Over’. Congrats to Diggy. He’s been causing a lot of buzz over the past few months and I’m almost positive that it won’t die down anytime soon.

Nicki just amazes me all the damn time. I’ve had this song on repeat for a while now so I thought I would get around to posting the video eventually.

Charts are out and there’s not much new other than the numbers. Sade and Lady Antebellum still hold the same spot as last week, Sade experiencing the most with a sales drop of about 80K. A Johnny Cash album was released and took the third spot with a small 51k, which is quite a bit judging from the past weeks numbers of album sales for 2010. Black Eyed Peas fell one spot with their E.N.D. album and Lady Gaga took spot 5 with a 20K drop. Other artist such as Ke$ha experienced a nice climb from spot 14 all the way to 7 as did new comer Melanie Fiona with a 9 spot climb. Hit the jump to view the rest of the charts!

Here’s a video that Chase N. Cashe and Hit-Boy put together to show how they made the huge hit for Weezinem, Drop The World. My jaw dropped when Hit-Boy said the beat was originally for Rihanna. Nonetheless, this is a legendary beat and is pure history. Surf Club is steady surfin’ to the top.
